Workshop on Phased Array Feeds for the Square Kilometre Array (PAFSKA2011)

Venue

The workshop will take place in the Hinckley Alumni and Visitors Center on the Brigham Young University campus in Provo, Utah, USA. The university has roughly 30,000 students on a beautiful campus at the foot of the Wasatch mountain range. BYU is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and includes a full range of nationally and internationally recognized academic disciplines, athletic programs, performing groups, and facilities.

Travel

The Salt Lake International Airport is the closest major airport to Provo and BYU. It is a major hub for Delta and Southwest airlines. You can either rent a car at the airport or take a shuttle service to Provo.

It is approximately a 50 min drive from the Salt Lake City Airport to Provo. From the airport head take I-80 eastbound to the I-215 interchange. Take I-215 southbound toward Provo (follow the signs). Take I-215 South 3 or 4 miles to the I-15 interchange. Turn right (southbound) onto I-15 toward Provo. Travel I-15 South for about 45 miles to Orem City (which is just north and west of Provo). Here is a link from Google Maps.

To get to the BYU campus from I-15 take the University Parkway exit (exit 269, marked as the BYU exit) east bound left over the freeway. Follow University Parkway east to the BYU campus (about 4.4 miles). On the way you will pass a large mall on your left and go down a curving hill into Provo. At the bottom of the hill go past three stoplights to turn right (southbound) onto Canyon Road. Travel about 0.2 mile south on Canyon Road and turn left (east) at the second light onto Bulldog Ave (1200 N). This is the main entrance to campus. The Hinckley Center is at the top of the hill on the right at the next stoplight.

Utah offers world class national parks, mountains, hikes, scenic drives, and outdoor recreational activities. A good sight-seeing stop is Temple Square (home of the famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir) in downtown Salt Lake City (1 hour north of Provo). Free tours are available in most languages.
